EDP organised in ICAR-CIPHET, Abohar Campus

Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP) on “Tomato processing and value addition” concluded

An Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP) on “Tomato Processing and Value addition” was organized from 04 to 06 October, 2016 at Horticultural Crop Processing Division, ICAR-CIPHET Abohar under CRP Secondary Agriculture project “Establishment of Modern Fruit and Vegetable Agro-Processing centre (APC) at ICAR-CIPHET Abohar”. The main aim of conducting this EDP training was to create the awareness among the farmers/ youths, women’s and upcoming entrepreneurs about the processing and value addition of Tomato into different products such as tomato juice, tomato soup, tomato sauce, tomato puree, tomato ketchup etc. Five farmers/entrepreneurs from village KeraKheda, Th: Abohar, Distt: Fazilka (Punjab) have participated in this EDP training including two women entrepreneurs. Hands-on training was given to the participants on pilot plants for the production of various products using tomato such as puree, ketchup, sauce, soup etc. The participants have shown keen interest in product development during this training and expected to start their own business in coming days. The organization team of this EDP includes Dr. D.M. Kadam (Head HCP, ICAR-CIPHET Abohar), Dr. Manoj Kumar Mahawar, Dr. Prerna Nath, Dr. Kirti Jalgaonkar, Sh. Rajeev Sharma and Ms. Kalyani Sharma. Head of the Division Dr. D.M. Kadam informed that institute is in the process of conducting many training related to Food processing and value addition in time to come.
